Brown Knit Hoodie

Finally a knitting project to tell about!  I finished this brown knit hoodie up a few days ago and have been wearing it everywhere.  I just LOVE it!

It is knit using Plymouth Mega Chunky Yarn in a brown that has flecks of orange and blue.  Such a gorgeous yarn and worked up quickly.

I didn't follow a pattern, but instead read a few patterns and used them as inspiration as well as my knowledge of top-down raglan sweater construction.

This is a basic raglan top down, cast on 52 stitches and continued in the raglan increases until the armholes were large enough.  This part of the sweater was a bit tricky, because I knew I needed to account for the bust area and could do it two ways, short rows or cast on extra stitches under the underarm and then decrease those stitches a few rows later.  I decided to skip the short rows and cast on an extra 6 stitches  under the arms and then decreased 8 stitches a few rows later.  This gave me the depth I needed in the bust area without too much issue.

The ridged lapels and hem were just knit/purl and easy to do since this project was worked flat on size 15 needles.

After the body and sleeves were done, I went back and picked up stitches around the collar and added the hood.  Knit to 16 inches in pattern and then did a 3 needle bind-off for the hood.  I wish I had taken a picture of the hood up because it is my cutest hood so far.

I hope everyone is well.  Life is busy and going like gangbusters.  Jon and I found out I am pregnant with twins shortly before Christmas.  We planned for one but Someone more knowledgeable and gracious said, "No, you need two.".  Life has been kind to us.  So many blessings.  My next few months will be focused on knitting soakers since we will be cloth diapering.

Keep crafting and catch you soon.
